Nel giro di tre o quattro generazioni la gente non sarà più nemmeno in grado di scorreggiare da sola e l'essere umano regredirà all'età della pietra, alle barbarie medievali, ad uno stadio che la lumaca aveva già superato all'epoca del pleistocene. Il mondo non verrà distrutto da una bomba atomica, come dicono i giornali, ma da una risata, da un eccesso di banalità che trasformerà la realtà in una barzelletta di pessimo gusto.
